The Drakensberg Experience is a tourist route that stretches from the Natal Midlands to the Free State border. The Drakensberg Experience Route is very diverse in what it offers. Aspects of the Drakensberg Experience include the second highest waterfall in the world the 948-metre high Tugela Falls, the Mweni Valley with its hiker-challenging Pinnacles, the Cathedral Peak valley, the Rock Art Centre at Didima, the Champagne Valley with Champagne Castle and Cathkin Peak dominating the skyline; the Injisuthi Valley with South Africa’s highest peak and Giant’s Castle with its famous Bushman paintings. There is also a choice of a few game reserves close by, of which one has the Big Five.
The Drakensberg Experience offers a variety of adventure activities. The activities include: Hiking – day and overnight, mountain biking, horse riding, massages, raptor displays, canopy tours (longest in SA), helicopter flights, concerts (during Drakensberg Boys’ Choir School term time), historical tours, 4×4 trips, rock art viewing, river rafting and kayaking, museum visits and many unique shopping experiences.
